Celebrating the Past, Creating the Future

The Jail and Outreach Ministry (JOM) program will attempt when appropriate to follow the concept of Responsibility, Rehabilitation, and Restoration when working with inmates who demonstrate the desire to change their behavior. Also, JOM’s goal is to provide direct service, education, and advocacy for inmates, their families, and the community. JOM plans to accomplish these purposes by supporting a professional certified chaplaincy and providing outreach with a particular focus on jails and juvenile detention. Also, JOM hopes to create an atmosphere of healing and hope for all individuals affected by crime. In addition, JOM will be an advocate for restorative justice through increased communication with decision makers in the hope of reducing recidivism in the criminal justice system.

JOM NEEDS YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The Jail and Outreach Ministry is a new and all inclusive non-profit organization in Oakland County, Michigan. A unique aspect of JOM is that it will support and sustain the Oakland County Jail Ministry which has been serving victims and offenders, and the families of both, for the past thirty years. JOM, as an organization, will continue support of the jail chaplaincy, as well as, focus and implement the key elements of restorative justice. JOM will provide a structure to embody the Oakland County Jail Chaplaincy as it has developed over the years and as it promises to expand its services in the years ahead. We are counting on your continuing support.

Jail and Outreach Ministry (formerly CJM Outreach) has been in operation for over 30 years has an organization that includes all faiths in our area that care about jail ministry. Our focus is on restorative justice which serves victims, offenders, families, and communities. We strive to assist offenders an especially those suffering from addictions with their spiritual needs when requested by the offender. JOM works very closely with Rehabilitation Organizations in
the State of Michigan as well as charitable organizations in our area such as Lighthouse, Common Ground and Grace Centers of Hope to name a few. We have much work ahead of us and really need your help!

VEHICLE DONATIONS

Please consider donating your used vehicle to JOM. So often we have a released offender who has a job but cannot get to that job for a lack of transportation. The same problem may apply to an offender family who needs a vehicle to get a family member to work to help obtain some of
the loss income from the incarceration of the family income provider. Your used vehicle can help that released offender or family provide the income needed for food and housing.

DONATING YOUR TIME

JOM is always in need of your time and talent with our various programs. From visiting with inmates in the jail to working on such programs as the Christmas Holiday Project or the Back to School Project. Please consider volunteering your time – you are very much needed to do what the Lord said: “What ever you do for the least of mine, you do for Me.”
